But the headline above puts it into perspective. If headlines existed, the Jerusalem Bugle might have blared this one from the masthead, in, say 1000 BC. An obscure king in the Old Testament committed this crime. Let's see. What was his name? No one you know. Oh yes. David. A man after God's own heart.
Headlines didn't exist in that day. But God took care of it. David lost his baby. David loved his children though they didn't always love him. After fervent prayer and mourning, David threw off his sackcloth and went back to business, accepting God's punishment.
I fret about government leaders. No election in memory has caused me the consternation of this one. I repeat "God is in charge" "God is in charge" but am I ready to let him be God? If certain candidates take office will I view it as a terrible accident?
But God IS in charge. And America deserves his wrath. The nation has annihilated a population the size of several cities by killing innocent babies. These small people should trust the women most important in their lives--their mothers. But they can't. I understand the fear that overwhelms a woman who alone must decide her future with a baby. It's frightening. Life spins out of control. Desperate, she can think of no good answer. But abortion is not God's will.
And we have seen the white house lit up in rainbow colors in the name of sin. Though slain police officers and soldiers don't get a flag at half mast.
Bathrooms open their doors to pedophiles and sexual predators--the same bathrooms little girls and little boys use--in the name of political correctness. Do they believe transgenders alone will see opportunity here? We can't be naive.
If God pours out his wrath by giving us the president we deserve for the next eight years (they often get reelected) will we mimic David and accept it quietly?
This will be the final blog on Tuesday. Please stop by on Saturdays after July 6.
