"When Jesus heard this, He was astonished and said to those following Him, 'I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.'" Matthew 8:10. When I received Goretta's article, the Christmas Fire, I sat, stunned, trying to take in the type-filled pages. Goretta's story exemplifies the Bible verse above. Not one word of "Why me," or ranting at the Lord. She merely asked Him for comfort. I hope my faith would withstand what she went through.
Our first Christmas in our first home, the first week of December 1988, Gary and twenty-month-old Erik chopped down a beautiful blue spruce, strapped it to the roof of the car, and brought it home. We were so happy that tragic night.
